SFS and the Minimum Income Standard

Comparing SFS spending guidelines to the MIS.

On the recommendation of the SFS governance group, a piece of research was commissioned in the summer of 2017 to analyse the SFS spending guidelines alongside the Minimum Income Standard (MIS).

This Minimum Income Standard (MIS) is an annual report which shows what members of the public think people need to achieve a socially acceptable living standard.

The intention was to understand how the SFS spending guideline levels compare to an external measure of living standards, providing an additional reference as to the relevance and appropriateness of the SFS figures.
